Death: remembering in a celebration of Life and Love

It’s scary how much junk a person can accumulate in a lifetime. During my spring cleaning, I have actually succeeded in filling ten complete boxes of stuff to be put away into the garage! Sentimentalism? Maybe. I am unable to throw them away, even though they are completely useless! Can you imagine, I still have reading notes from my University sophomore year! Among them, are things that I have always been looking for and thought that I have lost, things that I have never thought I possessed, things that remind me of some awkward, pleasant moments of my past, and there are things that made me recall some lovely people that have passed away.

Saturday, November 24th, 2001 at 11:00 am: A Celebration of Life and Love: in memory of … It was the end of fall, a frisky wind blown past my face and the last of autumn leaves had fallen. Sad, because I never had the chance to say good bye, yet celebrating in joy, because we know who holds tomorrow and he has been taken back to our Heavenly home. As years go by, I can still sometimes hear the music of that day resonating in the air: “(…) what a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and grieves to bear. What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer. O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer…” “(…) I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free. His eye is on the sparrow, and I know he watches, and I know he watches me.”
